Biography
Dr. J.D. Bishop, originally from southern Virginia, completed his undergraduate studies at Hampden-Sydney College, majoring in Biology. He then went onto Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, where he found his passion for pediatric medicine.
Areas of Notable Expertise and Interest
After graduating, he made the move to Memphis, TN to complete his residency program at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. During this experience, he was able to focus on hospital medicine and ontology, dedicating time to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Board-certified in general pediatrics, Dr. Bishop enjoys caring for his patients and helping them grow into happy, healthy adults.
Hobbies & Interests
Outside of work, Dr. Bishop enjoys practicing martial arts. He is an advanced sportsman, holding a black belt in Okinawan karate, a yellow belt in Tang Soo Do, and a stripe 3-white belt in Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He also enjoys fishing, hunting, and target shooting. In his free time, Dr. Bishop also enjoys watching college football, playing tabletop and video games, and spoiling his dog, Brokk.
